High-Flying Returner Joins Toronto

Toronto Argonauts have signed special teams star Janarion Grant to bolster their return game.

The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that they have signed special teams ace Janarion Grant. Grant, 30, spent the last four seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where he established himself as one of the CFL's most dangerous returners. In his four years in Winnipeg, Grant returned 145 kicks for 2,793 yards and six touchdowns, including a 102-yard return for a touchdown in the 2021 Grey Cup.

Grant's signing is a significant boost to the Argonauts' special teams unit. The Argos finished 29th in the CFL in kickoff return yards in 2022, and they hope Grant can provide a much-needed spark to their return game.

"Janarion is a dynamic returner who can make a big impact on our team," Argonauts general manager Michael Clemons said in a statement. "He has the speed, quickness, and vision to be a game-changer on special teams."

Grant is excited to join the Argonauts and is confident he can help the team improve their special teams play.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Argonauts," Grant said. "I know this team has a lot of potential, and I'm confident that I can help them take the next step." The Argonauts open their 2023 season on June 16 against the Montreal Alouettes.
